Before bringing our dogs to Dogs Way Training, we had attempted training through other programs, but the results were not what we had hoped for. One of our dogs, a rottie who is goofy and sweet but anxious in new situations and stubborn, was our biggest concern. Other programs didn’t seem to know quiet how to handle him. After joining Dogs Way, we have broken the communication barrier and can avoid/work through situations much more calmly. We are still a work in progress, but Eric has helped us to come so much farther than we had with other programs. It was definitely the right place for us.
-Taylor Clark, Royal Oak Would highly recommend Dogs Way Training! We have a 5 year old large Golden Retriever, we are seniors, Frank was retired and I recently did. Mack was loving, but strong and hard to control. Spoiled! When I retired, he started having issues with Frank, which led to him biting him. We needed help! We wanted someone to come to our home, and work with us one on one. I found Eric on the internet, liked the reviews and thought we would give him a call. We were very impressed from the beginning, he was so good with Mack and when he was there his manner instantly made Mack calm down! It was almost a Zen response! We signed up and we are so happy we did! We have learned a lot and Mack has responded well! It is still a work in progress, but everyone can not believe how much calmer he is now! No more issues with Frank either. The nutrition advise and the change in food has made a difference too, hard to believe, but he is shedding much less! Dogs Way Training has made a big difference in our life’s!
-Frank & Sue Turner, Roseville Eric and Rachel have gone above and beyond to help us with our dog, Lucy. We had a laundry list of issues and complaints that we weren’t able to control on our own. Eric impressed us at our in home demo with his knowledge and of course his personal salesman, Gus! We shopped around and explored a variety of other trainers and none offered us the functionality and real world practice that Dogs Way did. Eric has equipped us with the tools to tackle all behavior, distractions, and new situations! Going for walks used to be a drag and we never would have felt comfortable going to a park before starting training. We enjoy both now and have even begun working on some off leash training to make our trips to the park more fun! Rachel taught us so much about the importance of a good diet and we’ve seen a huge difference since investing in high quality food and treats. Their combined knowledge and experience sets them apart from all other trainers in the area. We love being a part of the club and would highly recommend Eric and Rachel to anyone looking for a trainer. We are so grateful for all they have taught us!
-Ashley Willming, Clinton Twp We contacted Dog's Way Training Club to help us with our Chocolate Labrador, "Lewis". Lewis became a "not your typical, happy go lucky" Labrador. Lewis had some behavioral issues with letting new people in the front door, meeting new people and walking at a heel. We had a Black Labrador, Buddy, who helped out with Lewis's early training and that was great until we he passed away just after Lewis turned a year old. After that, Lewis started with the behavior issues. He was not so friendly with new people. We didn't know how else to help him and help ourselves get educated other than by calling a trainer. I am happy to say that we are now able to let people in our door, with proper commands, and talk to people without having the fear of Lewis being unfriendly. He still doesn't lick and kiss everyone, but that's ok. We just want him to be relaxed and calm. We know the proper moves and commands from our training. We have been with Dogs Way Training Club for about 4 1/2 months and I can say that this has been the best decision for us and Lewis. We enjoy the knowledge that Eric and Rachel have shared with us. From correct food and nutrition ( which showed a huge difference in Lewis's behavior), to proper commands and training, to group sessions and private sessions. We are very pleased with what we have been learning and are excited to continue our training with Lewis and Dogs Way Training Club. Very good investment for their knowledge and training skills. I would recommend them if you need help with your dog.
-Cindy Slaughter, St. Clair Shores When Ralph (an Australian Shepherd) and I joined Dogs Way he was 10 years old, had never been properly socialized with other dogs or people. He was very protective of his space and belongings, and I had no idea how to help him through these issues, or even where to start. Because Ralph couldn't handle being around others I was initially hesitant to join a training club, then I found out Eric will come to you! The first time he came by was just to assess our situation and demonstrate some commands we would be learning when we joined. After a just few private lessons Ralph and I were ready to join the group and start socializing with others. It's only been about 6 months now, but Ralph's quality of life (not to mention the quality of our time together) has improved 100-fold. I learned how to communicate with him and he's learned to listen to me. We now are able to walk without worry of crossing paths with other people or dogs. I learned about his dietary needs and even which flea/tick treatments would be best suited for him. All these improvements in only 6 months, and more every week! My only regret is waiting so long to join. I recommend Dogs Way Training Club to everyone who stops us on the sidewalk to comment on how well behaved he is (frequently). If you're looking to improve the quality of life for you and your dog you've come to the right place. Here you will find accommodating, friendly, insightful, patient help with a support system to match. Ralph and I look forward to meeting you at group soon!
-Jordan Alcaraz, Center Line Just recently started training with Dog's Way and I'm already very pleased. They have taught me the tools I need to have a closer relationship with my dogs and the proper way to train them. Would (and will) definitely recommend... Great people! - Jennifer Sunderman, Sterling Heights
Eric has changed the way AXL & I live together. The money and time invested was VERY well invested. - Tim Edwards, St. Clair Shores
We have two dogs, 5 and 7 years old. Our dogs were not well mannered, neither were friendly with other dogs and the 5 year old was not really people friendly either. This made it very difficult to take our dogs out in public or have people over to our home. At their age I thought training them was a lost cause. A friend referred us to Dogs Way Training Club.
We soon found that what Eric does goes beyond typical obedience training. His patience and understanding of dog behavior helped make the training process very easy. As a result, our dogs responded well to the personal training at our house as well as the group classes. When Eric wasn’t available, his very capable assistants, Alyssa or Drew took over the training sessions without any drop off in effectiveness. We use to have to take one of our dogs to the vet and have him sedated in order to have his nails trimmed. By using methods we learned from Eric we are now able to take care of this ourselves. We were also able to attend an event that allowed us to take both dogs out to dinner with multiple families and their dogs and have had people to the house and we were able to let the dogs join us. This has all been accomplished in 3 short months. I’ve also attended one of their seminars on dog nutrition and learned so much about how what we feed our dogs affect their health and behavior. We’ve been very satisfied with our training experience with everyone at Dogs Way Training Club and will be continuing with group class and events as group class gives us the opportunity to reinforce what we have learn. -Billie Samoranski, Fraser When I first called Eric & Rachel I had sadly given up on my dog Piper (Rescued 2 y.o. Lab/Pitbull mix)...I feared I would have to re-home her. She was not socialized, anxious around anything/anyone new, reactive towards Apollo (my rescued 4 y.o. American Staffordshire terrier)...& other dogs. I thought she was an aggressive dog & had turned my other dog from sweet & submissive to aggressive & reactive. We started with Eric in June 2015 & I can truly say he saved my dogs & I. I never thought we'd be able to enjoy walks or go out in public together. He has given me so many tools in order to work with both of my dogs. Eric always makes himself available to help with any problem we have big or small. He has given me hope that I never thought I would have. Rachel taught us proper nutrition & health (amazing what essential oils can do). She has guided us in the direction of natural/affordable food, that my dogs love & have helped with their overall health & energy levels. There is too much that we would love to say about Eric & Rachel (can't forget Sula, Charlie, Gus, & Ghost...who have helped with socializing) to fit in one testimonial. I honestly cannot expressive how glad I am to be apart of the Dog's Way family. We still work everyday independently or with Eric (whether it be group/private lessons) , and can't wait to keep working. -Piper & Apollo DeSloover, Fraser MI
I am so impressed with Eric's knowledge & patience in training my full of energy German Shepherd & myself. Was with another trainer previously however we have made such major improvements with the help of Eric's expertise. He & his dogs are truly a testimonial to how proper training makes your pet a "family member" to be enjoyed. Thanks for the training
-Brenda Sowinski, Warren MI Eric is wonderful! He has given us so many tools to help get our Dakota to listen better & most importantly walk on a leash without walking me!! It's just the beginning too!! Thank you
-Cheryl Thomas Dogs Way Training is “Awesome”. They truly understand dogs and how to train their owners. I am a year and half old cocker spaniel who was not socialized as a puppy. I showed aggression towards people, other dogs, cars/trucks … practically anything that moved, but especially towards people who entered my home. Walks were exhausting for me and my owner, but my first visit with Eric taught me that there was no need to be afraid. Eric taught me to walk with my owner and how to properly greet people who entered my home. He also taught my owner how to help me through new and different situations. With the help of Eric, Charlie, Gus and Sula I am ready to move on to group events.
-Roman Hardy (Deborah Hardy) Eric trained our dog and us and the results were excellent. Our dog used to try to bite anyone he met. We haven't had this issue since working with Eric.
-Erik Piper Eric and Rachel are amazing. They dedicate so much of their lives to helping their people clients have happy, healthy relationships with their pooch clients. The care and guidance they have given me and Fluke could never be repaid. Eric is a truly gifted dog trainer/behaviorist. It’s special to watch him work a dog. Fluke and I are so excited to be part of the Training Club family and to get to enjoy spending time with like-minded doggy-mommas and poppas.
-Lisa Capps I am a 3 year old mutt who loved people and other dogs but didn't have the best manners and was pretty afraid of most things. That all changed when my parents introduced me to Eric at Dogs Way Training Club! Eric was so patient with me and took time to get to know what I needed. He showed me that the world wasn't a scary place after all and my confidence soared when I learned how to "place" on objects such as chairs and recycle bins! I can't wait to learn how to place on a fire hydrant like my friend Gus!!
-Tiger Springer Eric and Rachel are amazing at what they do. When our dog started training, other trainers were afraid of him, and wrote him off as an aggressive dog. Eric immediately saw right through it, and gave us hope. The amount of hours he's spent at our house for one on one training; I cant even count. He's given us so many tools, and has really held us accountable for becoming stronger dog owners. Not to mention, they love our Bey arguably as much as we do. They live and breathe their business. They're the best at what they do. I could not recommend them any more.
-Erin Hedges Eric and Rachel are the best around. They offer great packages from one-on-one to group classes and really truly know what they're talking about when it comes to communication with dogs and knowing how to feed them the right things!
- Katie Feeny Eric evaluates and trains each dog individually, using the theory that every dog doesn't respond the same way. His expertise has offered us hope dealing with a highly anxious dog.
-Kristin Ruohonen Hedges Eric is the greatest trainer in the tri-county area. He can take a dog who has failed other courses and turn them into obedient animals by teaching them (and their owners of course). Without him our home with our three dogs would be chaos. I highly recommend him!
